KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Houston bats hammered Kansas City starting pitcher Jordan Lyles on Sunday afternoon, putting up seven runs on nine hits in a 7-1 win. KC still won the series overall, 2-1.

The Royals had a one-run lead in the second inning, but their bats went cold after that. Meanwhile, the Astros hit two home runs in the win and had five guys registering at least one RBI.

Lyles dropped to 4-17 on the season. He pitched for six innings and, in that time, allowed four earned runs on six hits. He let a leadoff hit go in all but one inning of Sunday's game. Luckily for Lyles, Houston was just 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

Starting pitcher Brad Keller came in in relief in the ninth inning. He let three runs go on two hits.

Up next - the Royals will continue the home stand, as the club will host the Cleveland Guardians on Monday, Sept. 18. First pitch is at 1:10 p.m.
