CLEVELAND, Oh. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals avoided a series sweep in Cleveland Sunday winning the finale game 4-1. The Guardians still managed to walk away from the series with three wins before the All-Star break.

In Sunday's finale game, Cleveland scored first, but the Royals busted things open with three runs in the sixth to seal the deal.

Kyle Isbel went 2-for-4 on the day with a solo home run. Freddy Fermin had an RBI double, and Michael Massey went 3-for-4 with a two-score triple.

On the mound, Ryan Yarbrough got the start throwing six innings allowing one run on six hits and recording five strikeouts. Carlos Hernandez and Scott Barlow combined for a scoreless final three innings.

At the half way point in the season, KC sits 26-65 on the season, which is 19.5 games out of first place in the AL central division.

The Royals will be represented at the All-Star game by veteran catcher Salvador Perez. This will be his eighth All-Star game appearance.

Up next - Kansas City will be at Kauffman Stadium for a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays. Game one is set for Friday at 7:10 p.m.
