Chiefs wallop Ravens in AFC showdown to get to .500

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Chiefs looked a whole lot more like...well, the Kansas City Chiefs in Sunday afternoon's 37-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
With the win, head coach Andy Reid and his team avoided the franchise's first 1-3 start to a season in about a decade and what would've been the first of the Patrick Mahomes era. Instead, KC improved to 2-2 on the year.
It's the seventh win that the Chiefs have recorded against the Ravens in the last eight meetings.
Mahomes was stellar against the Chiefs' AFC foe at Arrowhead Stadium, as he completed about 67 percent of his passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns. Those four scores were each thrown to a different KC standout. The first went to wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, the second to running back Isiah Pacheco, the third to wide receiver Tyquan Thornton and the final TD pass of the night found wide receiver Marquis 'Hollywood' Brown.
On top of his stellar performance, Mahomes also made history as the youngest quarterback to throw 250 career passing touchdowns on his eight-yard touchdown connection with Pacheco in the second quarter.
The Chiefs have struggled to find rhythm on offense in 2025, but looked a world's different versus the Ravens. Mahomes and his unit went 4-for-5 on scoring drives, with the lone miss coming from a Harrison Butker 56-yard field goal attempt that went wide left.
On the flip side, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson was shut down by Kansas City's defense, as threw for 147 yards, one touchdown and his first interception of the season. He ended up leaving the game midway through the third quarter, once KC had a pretty significant lead in hand.
Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's unit ended up with three sacks on Jackson, courtesy of defensive end George Karlaftis, defensive tackle Jerry Tillery. The defense also tallied three tackles for loss, with linebacker Drue Tranquill leading the charge with a team-best seven total tackles.
Up next - Kansas City will hit the road for Monday Night Football. The Chiefs will kick off against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday, October 6 at 7:15 p.m.
