COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Hickman and Helias will both make their 2024 CMAC debuts when the two teams meet at Alumni Stadium on Friday night. Chris Hentges' crew is beginning its quest to defend last season's conference title while Justin Conyers' squad is seeking its first CMAC win in nearly two years.

The Crusaders and Kewpies are our KZOU Game of the Week. You can watch the game live on KZOU over the air channel 17.3 at 7 p.m. Here is a look at other local listings:

  • DirecTV - Channel 18
  • Dish Network - Channel 32
  • Mediacom - Channel 12 & 709
  • Centurylink - Channel 12
  • Spectrum - Channel 183

Both teams experienced different results in Week 1. Helias started the season 1-0 after securing an 11-point win on the road at Hannibal while Hickman lost a close 10-point battle at Marquette. Now, both teams are hoping to kick off their respective seven-game conference schedules with a win.

"There's no easy games in the CMAC. You look at our schedule, and there's no breathing room once so ever," Conyers said. "Helias is coming to town, 17 returning starters from last year. They're always extremely well-coached, they're disciplined and they always have a great approach to what they're doing, so it's going to be a tough football game for us on Friday night."

"You want to start the conference season out 1-0, and you can't achieve that until you beat your first conference opponent. We have a lot of respect for Hickman," Hentges said. "We know they're going to play tough, physical football, and we're going to have to be ready. It's going to be a tough game on Friday night."

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
