Eight mid-Missouri wrestlers win state championships

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The MSHSAA Class 1 Boys, Class 1 Girls and Class 2 Boys state wrestling tournaments are all wrapped up, and eight mid-Missouri wrestlers left Mizzou Arena as state champions. Tolton, Southern Boone, Moberly, Hallsville, Centralia, North Callaway and Versailles each finished Thursday night with at least one state title winner.

Tolton finished the Class 1 Boys tournament in second place to earn a team trophy, closely followed by Centralia who ended the event in third place in the same tournament. In Class 2, Blair Oaks Boys Wrestling also took home a third place finish to win a team trophy. Southern Boone just missed the podium, finishing the Class 1 Girls tournament in fifth place.

Here's a list of the individual mid-Missouri wrestlers who won their state title bouts:

  • LANE KIMBLEY (NORTH CALLAWAY)
  • TRISTIN GAVETTE (VERSAILLES)
  • CALLIE BERGTHOLD (SOUTHERN BOONE)
  • BREANNE GIBBS (MOBERLY)
  • JAYCI SHELTON (CENTRALIA)
  • PARKER CRANE (HALLSVILLE)

The MSHSAA State Wrestling Championships continue on Friday with the Class 2 Girls, Class 3 Boys and Class 4 Boys tournaments.
