Numerous mid-Missouri wrestlers advance to MSHSAA state semifinals
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The first day of the MSHSAA State Wrestling Tournament is in the books, and several mid-Missouri wrestlers have punched their tickets to the state semifinals in the Class 1 Boys, Class 1 Girls and Class 2 Boys' brackets.
Meanwhile, a few local programs are also in contention for a team trophy. In Class 1, Centralia's boys wrestling team is currently in second place with a team score of 65.0, and Tolton is close behind in third place with 63.0 team points. Both schools are trailing St. Pius X (Kansas City), who has already reached a 102.0 team score. In Class 2, Blair Oaks Boys Wrestling is within striking distance of a team trophy, finishing the first day of action in fifth place but just three points behind a three-way tie for second place.

The state semifinals kick off on Thursday at 8 a.m. for the Class 1 Boys' brackets, followed by 10:15 a.m. for Class 1 Girls and 12:15 p.m. for Class 2 Boys. The championship bouts for all three tournaments are scheduled to begin at 5:45 p.m.
