RECAP: Mid-Missouri wrestlers claim top spots in state tournament

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Eleven local Mid-Missouri athletes managed to bring home first place finishes in the 2023 MSHSAA State Wrestling tournament at Mizzou Arena.

The list includes two first place finishers from Centralia. The Panthers managed to bring home their first team title for Class 1 in program history.

The local Class 4 boys first place finishers include:

  • 112 weight class: 1st place Hickman's Hank Benter
  • 150 weight class: 1st place Rock Bridge's Carter McCallister

The local Class 3 boys first place finishers include:

  • 175 weight class: 1st place Helias' Logan Montoya

The local Class 2 boys first place finishers include:

  • 106 weight class: 1st place Fulton's Cole Blattner
  • 144 weight class: 1st place Hallsville's Gavynn Carpenter

The local Class 1 boys first place finishers include:

  • 113 weight class: 1st place Tolton's Christopher Ankenman
  • 120 weight class: 1st Centralia's Brayden Dubes
  • 165 weight class: 1st place Centralia's Brayden Shelton

The local Class 1 girls first place finishers include:

  • 115 weight class: 1st place Southern Boone's Callie Bergthold
  • 130 weight class: 1st place Jefferson City's Alexis Dunwiddie
  • 145 weight class: 1st place Moberly's Breanne Gibbs
