Local wrestlers claim top-five awards in the final day of State Wrestling

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The final day of State Wrestling at Mizzou Arena consisted of wrestlers in the Class 4 boys, Class 3 boys and Class 2 girls going head-to-head for top-five awards.

For the Class 4 boys, Hickman's Hank Benter brought home his second state title and Rock Bridge's Carter McAllister brought home his third. In the 3rd and 5th place matches, three local athletes brought in some hardware.

  • 112 weight class: 1st place Hickman's Hank Benter
  • 126 weight class: 3rd place Hickman's Hayden Benter
  • 150 weight class: 1st place Rock Bridge's Carter McCallister
  • 175 weight class: 5th place Hickman's Cole Harrell
  • 190 weight class: 3rd place Battle's Austen Wetzel

For the Class 3 boys. Helias junior Logan Montoya claimed his first state championship. In the 3rd and 5th place matches, four local wrestlers finished in 4th place and two claimed 5th.

  • 126 weight class: 4th place Helias' Carter Prenger, 5th place Jefferson City's Elijah Teiberis
  • 144 weight class: 4th place Helias' Jace Duemmel
  • 150 weight class: 4th place Jefferson City's Joseph Kuster
  • 157 weight class: 5th place Helias' Eli Homan
  • 175 weight class: 1st place Helias' Logan Montoya
  • 285 weight class: 4th place Capital City's Reyce Turner

For the Class 2 girls, Camdeton's Abigail Fugslang fell just short of a perfect season finishing in second at 46-1 on the year. In the 3rd and 5th place matches, two wrestlers claimed top-five awards.

  • 100 weight class: 2nd place Camdenton's Abigail Fugslang
  • 130 weight class: 5th place Smith-Cotton's Jasmine Wolfe
  • 140 weight class: 4th place Capital City's Jacinda Espinosa
