Blair Oaks names next head softball coach

WARDSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Blair Oaks R-2 School District has announced the next leader of its high school softball program.

Taylor Doerhoff will serve as the team's head coach during the 2024-25 season, taking over for Sharon Buschjost, who retired at the end of last season after leading the program for 28 seasons.

“I am super excited and honored to be given the opportunity. It has always been a dream of mine to someday get this chance, and it is very surreal that day is finally here. I am excited to meet with the girls and get to work," Doerhoff said in Friday's press release.

Doerhoff has served as an assistant softball coach for 11 years. She spent the past eight seasons at Blair Oaks and also made coaching stops at Westminster College and Battle High School.

The Blair Oaks alum also played softball for the Falcons, earning All-State honors as a pitcher in 2009.

Blair Oaks Softball finished the 2023-24 season in second place in Class 3, District 5 after posting a 17-13 overall record. The Falcons have made the Final Four in five of the past eight seasons, including a state championship win in 2021.
