Rock Bridge hires former Mizzou assistant to coaching staff
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Rock Bridge is adding an SEC-caliber coach to its staff.
Head Coach Matt Perkins has announced that former Mizzou assistant Al Davis is joining the Bruins as a defensive line coach for the 2025 season.
Davis, who coached MU's interior defensive linemen for four seasons (2021-24), is staying in Columbia to coach at the high school level after resigning from the university due to personal reasons.
"I've made the decision today to resign from my coaching position at the University of Missouri due to personal reasons to focus on family matters," Davis said in a statement on May 16. "I want to thank Coach Drinkwitz for giving me the opportunity to coach here over the last few years and wish the program well. They have a bright future under his leadership."
The Georgia native is bringing more than a decade's worth of playing and coaching experience at the collegiate level to the Bruins. Davis, who played in 49 career games at Arkansas (2009-12), served as a graduate assistant for the Razorbacks (2014-16), associate head coach and co-defensive coordinator at Hutchinson Community College (2017-19) and defensive tackles coach at Illinois (2020).
"Coach Davis brings a wealth of expertise in the game of football and a passion that will drive us to a new level," Perkins said in a statement on social media. "Fired up to have you join the staff coach!"
Rock Bridge kicks off practices for the 2025 season on Monday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 a.m. ahead of their season opener on Friday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. against Park Hill.
