Morgan Scott resigns as Hickman’s head girls basketball coach
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Hickman Girls Basketball will be searching for a new head coach for the 2025-26 campaign.
Morgan Eye Scott announced that she is resigning as the leader of the program, following five seasons with the team.
"After careful consideration, I have made the tough decision to resign as the Head Girls Basketball Coach at Hickman High School. I want to express my gratitude to Hickman for giving me my first head coaching opportunity. It has been a very rewarding experience these past five years," Scott said in a statement on social media. "My goal as a coach has always been to positively impact the lives of all who come through our program, and I feel I gave my best to accomplishing that during my tenure. I am forever grateful to the coaches who worked on our staff throughout the years to help build the Hickman Girls Basketball Program up to where it is today. We have a team policy that states to always leave a place better than you found it, and I am at peace knowing that was accomplished."
Scott led a quick turnaround of Hickman's girls basketball program during her five-year tenure. The Kewpies posted losing records in the three years prior to her arrival, but the former Mizzou great guided Hickman to winning seasons in four of her five campaigns with the team. Under her leadership, the Kewpies had a 79-52 overall record, including three second place finishes in the district tournament.
Scott ended her final season at Hickman with a 16-13 mark, falling just 12 points short of defeating Rock Bridge in the Class 6 District 7 Championship.
"Thank you to my players. You were the reason and motivation behind everything I did as a coach. Love you," Scott closed her statement.
Hickman will begin the hunt for a new head coach, seeking to clinch the program's first district title in a decade when tipoff for the upcoming campaign arrives this winter.
