Tipton, Salisbury earn third place finishes at MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Tipton Girls Basketball and Salisbury Boys Basketball are bringing home third place trophies after earning victories in their Class 2 State Tournament games on Thursday.

TIPTON VS. NORWOOD

Tipton Girls Basketball cruised to a 62-35 win over Norwood in Thursday's Class 2 MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown. The Cardinals end their fourth trip to the final four in five seasons in third place.

Tipton started the game on a 13-5 scoring run and outscored the Pirates in every quarter, building a lead as large as 31 points in the fourth quarter.

Four different players scored at least nine points for the Cardinals. Ava Schlotzhauer posted a game-high 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Courtney Edwards and Clara Williams also finished the contest in double figures, scoring 16 points and 13 points respectively.

The Cardinals end their season with a 28-4 overall record.

SOUTH PEMISCOT VS. SALISBURY

Salisbury Boys Basketball completed a double-digit comeback to capture a third place finish in their Class 2 MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown game. The Panthers defeated South Pemiscot 77-66 on Thursday.

Salisbury trailed by as many as 13 points midway through the second quarter but completely erased that deficit late in the third quarter. The Panthers outscored their opponent 45-27 in the second half to post an 11-point victory.

Cooper Francis and Hayden Wooldridge scored 58 points combined, recording 37 points and 21 points respectively. Wooldridge also grabbed 10 rebounds to finish the game with a double-double.

The Panthers' season ends with a 29-3 overall record.
