Seven Mid-Missouri state champions crowned at MSHSAA Track & Field Championships
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
The first weekend of the 2025 MSHSAA Track & Field Championships is complete.
After two days of action at Adkins Stadium, Mid-Missouri claimed 15 state titles, including eight championships from seven different athletes at Saturday's competition. Collectively, local athletes accounted for 167 state medals in Class 1, 2 and 3 combined.
Effie Morris (Boonville) captured state crowns in both the Class 3 Girls 100m Hurdles and 300m Hurdles, recording times of 14.58 and 44.30 in each event, respectively. She was one of three Mid-Missouri athletes who won state championships in two events at this meet.
Ilene Limberg (Owensville) was another local athlete who clinched more than one state title over the weekend. After earning the top spot in the Class 3 Girls 3200m run on Friday, Limberg clinched a second state championship in the Class 3 Girls 1600m race at the final day of competition with a 5:06.02 time.
Jaxon Engelbrecht (Blair Oaks), Jackson Hensley (California) and Brie Massman (Fatima) also took the top step of the podium in running events. Engelbrecht tallied a time of 38.13 in the Class 3 Boys 300m Hurdles while Hensley posted a 14.40 in the Class 3 Boys 110m Hurdles and Massman ran a sub-2:20.00 (2:19.39) in the Class 3 Girls 800m race.
Finally, Caelan Harland (Macon) and Aubrey Rehmert (Belle) shined in the field events, winning the Class 3 Boys Pole Vault with a 4.83-meter effort and the Class 2 Girls Javelin with a 42.60-meter throw. Harland became the third four-time state champion in the pole vault in MSHSAA history.
Along with the individual success, four Mid-Missouri programs also lifted team trophies. Blair Oaks (fourth place) and New Bloomfield (fourth place) each secured top four team finishes at the MSHSAA Track & Field Championships for the first time in program history in the Class 3 Boys and Class 2 Boys divisions. Then, Fayette and Owensville both ended the meet in third place in the Class 2 Girls and Class 3 Girls groups.
