Prosecutor reaches agreement in Boonville football star Wesolak’s case

BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Cooper County prosecutor's office said Tuesday that it has reached an agreement with a Boonville High School football star to avoid prosecution on misdemeanor harassment and assault charges.

Wesolak was charged earlier this year, though details of the charges were not reported. According to court records, the incident happened on March 21 and a warrant for Wesolak's arrest was issued on May 21. The warrant was recalled and a summons was issued on Aug. 18.

The prosecutor's office will defer prosecution after talking with the victim and taking Wesolak's age and lack of criminal history into account, according to a news release. The criminal charges will be dismissed as long as Wesolak doesn't break any other laws, the release says. The release does not specify how long the agreement will be in effect.

Wesolak is a four-star recruit.
