Mizzou defensive end earns SEC Weekly honors
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou defensive end Johnny Walker Jr. showed out on senior day and he's getting some well-deserved recognition for it.
On Monday, the Southeastern Conference tabbed Walker Jr. as the SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week after a standout outing in the 28-21 win over rival Arkansas on Saturday.
In the senior day win, the captain posted a career-high 11 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, one sack, two forced fumbles and one quarterback hurry. Each of those fumbles resulted in touchdowns for MU, one to take the first lead of the game and the other to give the Tigers a 17-14 edge in the fourth quarter.
It felt like Walker Jr. was in on every play in the win over Arkansas. He was a big part in Mizzou limiting the Razorbacks to going for 3-of-11 on third down conversions.
The defensive end also holds the nation's longest standing streak of consecutive games with 0.5+ sacks. With the 1.5 he registered on Saturday, he's now at six-straight games, as he's tied 13th all-time on the program's career sack chart with 16.5.
Up next - Walker Jr. and the Tiger will learn their bowl fate on Dec. 8 during the selection show.
