Seventh inning rally lifts No. 11 Florida to win over Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team fell just short of an upset against No. 11 Florida with a 4-3 loss in Gainesville on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Gators won the series 2-1.

The Tigers started the game off with multiple lengthy at-bats, forcing Florida pitcher Elizabeth Hightower to toss 50 pitches in just the first inning. That work at the plate drew out a bases loaded walk to make it 1-0.

Sophomore Julia Crenshaw hit a solo home run in the third inning, as well. MU went into the seventh and final inning up 3-2.

However, Florida managed to load up the bases and the Gators walked it off on a wild pitch from Mizzou's Taylor Pannell.

Up next - the Tigers will host Drake at the Mizzou Softball Stadium on Wednesday, March 22. First pitch is at 5:30 p.m.
