Mizzou volleyball alum promoted to assistant coach

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou volleyball team announced that former Tiger standout Alyssa Munlyn has been promoted to an assistant coach.

The four-time All-American served as a volunteer assistant coach under head coach Josh Taylor in 2021, after spending both the 2019 and 2020 seasons as a graduate assistant.

"I'm filled with so much gratitude for the opportunity to continue working towards the aspirations and vision of this amazing program," Munlyn said in a press release on Friday. "This team and staff are incredible. I have no doubt in my mind that the best has yet to come for this program, and I am extremely lucky and humbled to be a part of it."

In her playing days, Munlyn was one of the nation's top middle blockers, ranking first all-time in Mizzou history with a .388 hitting percentage. The Georgia-native is all over the Mizzou record books as she's in the program's top-10 single-season hitting percentage and the top-four for single-season total block performances.

Mizzou volleyball also announced that current assistant Molly Taylor will be stepping into Munlyn's former role, as a volunteer assistant for the Tigers.
