Mizzou upsets No. 15 Alabama
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou men's basketball team started off 2022 with a top-25 win, after upsetting No. 15 Alabama at Mizzou Arena on Saturday afternoon. The game marks MU's first conference win of the season.
“We have a ways to go as a team, but I think we’ve made tremendous strides, especially in the week or so we’ve had a chance to practice and get better,” head coach Cuonzo Martin said. “I thought our guys came with the hard hat. They worked hard.”
The Tigers put up their best offensive performance of the season with a season-high 92 points. Mizzou attacked the boards on both ends of the floor, but especially offensively. The Tigers came down with 16 offensive rebounds, which was five more than the Tide had all afternoon.
Junior Kobe Brown was absolutely everything for Mizzou. He hit 9-of-13 shots with a couple of triples sprinkled in. Brown ended with 30 points and 13 rebounds, which is his fifth double-double of the season.
Jarron "Boogie" Coleman also had a big outing for MU, finishing with a season-best 18 points. Javon Pickett and DaJuan Gordon followed up with 15 points apiece.
Next up - head coach Cuonzo Martin and company will head to Fayetteville, Ark. to meet the Razorbacks on Jan. 12. That game will tip off at 8 p.m. on SEC Network.
