Mizzou edges out Florida in overtime, becomes bowl eligible
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou football team is bowl eligible after its 24-23 overtime win over the Florida Gators on Saturday evening.
Running back Tyler Badie made the most of his senior day. He finished the game with 27 carries for 146 yards and a touchdown.
The defense led the charge early on, as both the Gators and the Tigers traded field goals. MU was up 9-6 at halftime.
Florida scored the game's first touchdown in the third quarter to go up 13-9. QB Connor Bazelak would answer in the fourth quarter as he connected with Niko Hea on a 41-yard touchdown to give the Tigers a 16-13 lead.
After a Florida field goal tied things up, Harrison Mevis had an opportunity to give the Tigers the lead with just over a minute left in the game. Surprisingly, the sophomore standout missed just his second kick of the season. The game would go to overtime.
The Gators scored a touchdown in their first overtime possession to take the lead over the Tigers. However, Eli Drinkwitz and company responded. Badie ran the ball in for a score to make it 23-22. Seconds later, Drinkwitz opted to go for two. Bazelak connected with senior Daniel Parker Jr. for the game-winning two point conversion.
Celebration ensued as the Tigers improved to 6-5 overall and 3-4 in the SEC.
