No. 15 Mizzou falls to No. 3 Florida in series opener

COLUMBIA, Mo (KMIZ)

The Mizzou softball team dropped the opening game of the series against No. 3 Florida, in a 5-2 loss on Friday night.

The Tigers led the majority of the game, following a two-run blast from Cayla Kessinger in the 2nd inning.

MU pitcher Jordan Weber threw five scoreless innings, along with five strikeouts and no earned runs. However, Emma Nichols came in in the sixth inning, after Weber loaded the bases with two outs.

Florida's Jaimie Hoover lifted up a home run off of Nichols to take the three-run lead.

Up next - Mizzou will face Florida in game two of the series on Saturday at 4 P.M.
