DETROIT (AP) — Detroit boxing is fighting to make a comeback. The fight town has a rich history in the sport, dating back to Joe Louis. Sugar Ray Robinson and Thomas Hearns came along later to pack their own punches to make boxing popular in the Motor City. Former champion Tony Harrison is the latest, greatest boxer from the city. He hasn’t competed in his hometown in nearly a decade and is fighting undefeated Australian Tim Tszyu this weekend in Sydney. A pair of boxing promoters in Detroit plan to put on more than 10 boxing shows this year for young professionals.
