QB auditions take center stage in Ohio St spring practice

By MITCH STACY

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — With two-year starter C.J. Stroud off to the NFL, the competition for a new starting quarterback takes center stage as Ohio State begins spring practice. The race pits third-year backup Kyle McCord, who has seen limited action in his first two seasons, against second-year player Devin Brown, who has yet to throw a pass in college football. McCord, from suburban Philadelphia, got mop-up duty last season, completing 16 of 20 passes for 190 yards and a touchdown. Brown was coached at his Utah high school by former Buckeye quarterback Joe Germaine. The annual spring game is April 15.
