Bowman, Capitani to coach US swim team at worlds in Japan

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) — Michael Phelps’ former coach Bob Bowman and Carol Capitani will serve as head coaches of the U.S. swimming team for this summer’s world championship in Fukuoka, Japan. Bowman will lead the men’s team, while Capitani heads the women’s squad. Bowman is the men’s and women’s coach at Arizona State. He will be serving as a head coach at the world championship for the fourth time, in addition to handling the role at Phelps’ final Olympics in 2016. Capitani is the women’s head coach at Texas. This will be her biggest role on the international stage.
