Hunter’s 18 points lead No. 12 Texas over UTEP 72-57

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Tyrese Hunter scored 18 points to lead No. 12 Texas to a 72-57 season-opening win over UTEP in the Longhorns’ new arena. The transfer from Iowa State made six of eight shots and had five rebounds. Ze’Rik Onyema scored 10 points to lead UTEP. The Miners got within eight points in the second half before Texas pulled away late behind Hunter. Texas this season moved to the $375 million Moody Center on the edge of campus after 45 years in the Frank Erwin Center.
