American Hockey League to have 10 female officials this year

Ten female officials will work games in the American Hockey League this season. Katie Guay on Saturday will become the first woman to referee an AHL game. She is among 17 new female officials in the AHL. All went through an NHL mentorship program and many participated in NHL officiating combines. It’s another step toward women officiating in the NHL someday.
