Mizzou falls to No. 25 Oregon, despite fast start

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou volleyball team couldn't keep its undefeated start to the season going, on Tuesday night, falling to No. 25 Oregon 3-1.

Head coach Dawn Sullivan's team had about as fast of start as you could've hoped for against the Ducks, taking set one by a six-point margin. However, they couldn't sustain that momentum through the next three sets.

Despite the loss, there were plenty of bright spots for the Tigers, in what was their first real test of the 2026 season.

One of the biggest bright spots of the night came in the play of junior middle-blocker Lauren Larkin, who led Mizzou with 14 kills on a .552 hitting percentage. Her performance was followed up by freshman outside hitter Ceylin Kuyan and sophomore right-side hitter Maca Labaglio, who each ended up with 10 kills apiece.

Up next - Coach Sullivan and company will head to Wrigley Field to face No. 1 Nebraska in an outdoor match on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 8 p.m.
