Mizzou women’s golf secures best finish in school history, advances to NCAA Finals Fourth Round

CARLSBAD, Calif. (KMIZ)

The 2026 Mizzou women's golf team is continuing to etch itself further into the record books with a head-turning performance on Sunday, where the team clinched the best finish in school history with a berth into the NCAA Finals Fourth Round.

Head coach Caroline Westrup Gaeta's group ended the third round in the Top-15 to make the initial cut at the NCAA Championship Finals. The Tigers finished the round in 11th place, overall, owning a 54-hole score of +8 after a one-over 289 to advance to the final round of stroke play, on Monday.

With Mizzou advancing into Monday's action, that means that Gaeta's team has officially locked up the best finish in program history. The only other team that got close was 2005 squad, when the Tigers ended up in 16th place in a 24-team field, with no cuts.

Junior Fleur van Beek paced the Tigers in Sunday's action, anchoring a late push to make it to the fourth round. She tallied the best score by a Mizzou golfer at the NCAA Finals in program history, carding a two-under 70. According to Mizzou, that topped the previous record of 71 held by Denis Knaebel in 2005 and Jade Zamora in round one. Overall, van Beek moved up 44 spots on the leaderboard and now sits in 72nd at +5 (72-79-71).

However, it's a true freshman that leads Mizzou after three rounds, as Eba Liljeberg posted a one-under 71, on Sunday, now sitting in 28th place at even par (72-73-71).

MU will tee off in the fourth and final round of stroke play on Monday morning. Once the action is wrapped up, the field will be trimmed down to eight teams, with the remaining schools competing in match play, beginning with the quarterfinals on Tuesday. The Tigers are just six strokes back from a Top-8 placement, ahead of Monday's round.
