COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou men's basketball earned its revenge over rival Kansas, following December's loss at the T-Mobile Center, by grabbing one of their best players out of the transfer portal.

On Thursday, head coach Dennis Gates landed a highly-anticipated commitment from 6-foot-11 forward Bryson Tiller. He is the third player to pledge to the Tigers out of the portal, joining former Tennessee forward Jaylen Carey and former Providence forward Jamier Jones.

Tiller is coming off of a standout redshirt freshman season for the Jayhawks, where he averaged 7.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.3 blocks per game. The Georgia native played in 35 games, earning 31 starts in his second collegiate season. He posted a pair of double-doubles as a full-time starter, notching a career-high 21 points against BYU in January.

He also put himself into the KU record books, on the freshman list his 214 rebounds ranks eighth in program history, his 6.1 rebounds per game ranks No. 10 and his 45 blocked shots ranked No. 5 in program history.

Out of high school, Tiller joined head coach Bill Self as the No. 20 overall prospect in the Class of 2025, even holding an offer from Mizzou. When he entered the transfer portal, the hype remained just as high, as he was considered a four-star portal prospect.

The forward will now get a pretty rare opportunity of experiencing one of the most historic rivalries in the nation from both sides. In December's Kansas win over Mizzou, Tiller tallied 13 points in the Tigers' 20-point loss. Now, in the 2026-27 season, he will be switching sides to play for Coach Gates.

Tiller will not only be coming in at the same time as Carey and Jones, but as well as a standout freshman class which features five-star guard Jason Crowe Jr.
