Pair of Mizzou Gymnastics coaches earn regional honors

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Tigers staff brought home two awards from the Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association.

Head coach Shannon Welker earned his second straight South Central Coach of the Year award. He helped bring the program to its sixth-straight NCAA Regional Final appearance. Welker also helped junior Hannah Horton to the school's third straight SEC Specialist of the year, as well as a conference record 10 All-SEC selections.

Floor coach Jackie Terpak earned the South Central Assistant Coach of the Year award. This is the first time in school history that a Mizzou coach has brought home this honor.

The Tigers' floor unit was the team's best throughout the whole season, never dipping below a total score of 49.3. Mizzou finished the season ranked seventh in this apparatus, and got as high as second in the entire nation during the season.
