Mizzou diver Collier Dyer made history in Atlanta, on Friday night.

The Colorado native not only broke the program record in the 3-meter dive, but also became the program's first-ever NCAA Diving Champion with a score of 497.75 in that event at the McAuley Aquatic Center.

Dyer now joins Mizzou alum Fabian Schwingenschlogl in the prestigious national champion club, becoming the second NCAA champ in program history for the Tigers (the first diver to ever achieve the feat).

"Incredibly grateful and proud to represent Mizzou," Dyer said in a press release. "I wouldn't be here without the village of people that have supported me throughout my journey. M-I-Z!"

The senior had an uphill climb into his first-ever finals appearance, on Friday night, as he came out of preliminaries with a sixth-place finish, recording a score of 387.55. However, he completely flipped the script from just scraping into the finals to become a national champion.

"What stands out most is how Collier handled the adversity he faced midseason with resilience, maturity, and belief in himself," head coach Andrew Grevers said in a press release. "To respond the way he did and finish as an NCAA Champion speaks volumes about his character and the leadership of our diving program. It's a special moment for our entire team."
