Mizzou baseball wallops Arkansas-Pine Bluff in series opener

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

For the fourth-straight game, Mizzou baseball plated double-digit runs, as the Tigers shellacked Arkansas-Pine Bluff (UAPB) 15-1 in Tuesday's series opener.

The win lifted head coach Kerrick Jackson and his team to 6-2 overall in 2026.

The Lions jumped out to a one-run lead in the first inning, courtesy of an RBI single to center field. However, the Tiger pitching staff settled in, after that. Starter JD Dorhrmann threw for 6.0 innings and allowed just that one run on one hit, fanning five UAPB batters.

It took a couple of innings for the MU bats to get going, but a big third frame from the Tigers opened up the flood gates. Jackson's team plated five runs in that inning, thanks to a couple of bases loaded walks, a sacrifice grounder, a score on a fielder's choice and an RBI single off the bat of shortstop Eric Maisonet.

From there, Mizzou put up one run in the fifth inning, before another offensive explosion in the sixth. That inning was highlighted by Jase Woita's third home run of the season, which put three more runs up on the scoreboard.

However, it was catcher Mateo Serna, who led the charge at the dish for the Tigers. He tallied a team-best four RBI in a 2-for-5 outing at the plate.

Up next - Mizzou will close out its two-game set against UAPB on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.
