COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team had a long afternoon at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, falling to No. 7 LSU 108-55.

With the loss, the Tigers fell to 16-13 overall and 4-10 in Southeastern Conference action, this season.

Head coach Kellie Harper's squad actually jumped out to an early five-point lead in the contest, as a deep triple from guard Grace Slaughter and a floater off the hand of guard Shannon Dowel gave MU the advantage.

However, after the first time out, the Baton Rouge Tigers erased the deficit and ran away with a lead. Slaughter did bury another big 3-pointer to give her 10 points in the first quarter, but despite that effort the Columbia Tigers trailed by nine after the first 10 minutes.

From there, it felt like it was all LSU, as head coach Kim Mulkey's group built up a 54-22 lead by the time halftime came around. Then, in the third and fourth quarters, LSU proceeded to out-scoree Mizzou 54-33, breaking 100 points on the night.

Overall, Coach Harper's team had a rough shooting night, going just 24 percent from the field and 25 percent from 3-point range. Despite those struggles, Slaughter still found away to put a team-best 14 points in the bank, along with one block and a steal.

Guard Chloe Sotell and Dowell were the only other Tigers to get into double-digit scoring at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, recording 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Up next - Mizzou will continue its gauntlet to end the regular-season, traveling to meet No. 3 South Carolina on Thursday. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. CT.
