Mizzou’s Grace Slaughter named to Cheryl Miller mid-season award watchlist

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Tigers' small forward is up for one of the top awards in the country.
Mizzou women's basketball junior Grace Slaughter was named to the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award Mid-Season watch list. The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association released the list of 10 women. The Grain Valley native was named to the preseason watchlist for the award back on Oct. 29.
Slaughter has been at the forefront of the Tigers' offense, leading the team with 19.3 points per game, which ranks fifth in the SEC. Additionally, she leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.2 and is second in assists per game at 1.9, doubling both numbers from the previous season.
This year, the forward has notched 11 outings with 20 or more points, and has reached double figures in every game, highlighted by a 33 point night against Northwestern on Nov. 29.
In March, the Mid-Season list will be narrowed down to five, with the winner being announced at the end of the month.
