COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou men's basketball team announced that it is losing some depth at guard, on Wednesday.

Tiger guard Annor Boateng will officially miss the rest of the 2025-26 campaign, after going down with an injury against Mississippi State. The sophomore took a scary fall, while driving to the basketball for a dunk, and was taken out of Mizzou Arena on a stretcher. Now, MU Athletics said that he has had successful surgery on his left leg.

It's still not clear exactly what Boateng's injury was, as Mizzou did not get into specifics in its press release.

The season-ending injury marks a disappointing end to the year for the Arkansas native, who had already dealt with another injury to start his sophomore campaign. Since returning to the court five games into the season, Boateng has notched four starts through 15 games, averaging 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, 0.3 assists and 0.3 steals per game through about 11.5 minutes of action per outing.

With Boateng out for the year, Mizzou's guard rotation will come down to starter T.O Barrett, veteran Anthony Robinson, junior Sebastian Mack and then true freshman Aaron Rowe, who has not gotten into a game this season.

Up next - Mizzou will travel to Columbia East for action against rival South Carolina, on Saturday. Tip off is slated for 12 p.m. CT.
