LEXINGTON, Ky. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou women's basketball team followed up one of its best shooting nights of the season against No. 2 Texas, with the worst shooting day its seen all season in a 74-52 loss to No. 11 Kentucky, on Sunday.

The shots were just not falling for head coach Kellie Harper's squad, as the group finished shooting 29 percent from the field and 18 percent from 3-point range. Guard Grace Slaughter and forward Jordana Reisma were the only two Tigers to get into double-digit scoring, tallying 15 and 10 points, respectively.

MU was actually able to take an early three-point lead over the Wildcats at Historic Memorial Coliseum, on Sunday, courtesy of a nice sequence from guard Lisa Thompson. The junior dished to Abbey Schreacke for a triple to open up the scoring and then, just one possession later, drove the length of court and pounded the lane, to give Mizzou the first lead of the game.

MU and UK traded buckets in the first quarter, however, the Wildcats still ended the first 10 minutes with a seven-point advantage.

Into the second quarter, the Wildcats managed to find some separation, taking a 38-28 lead into halftime and never looking back. In fact, by the time the fourth quarter came, the Cats had managed to blow the game wide open.

The duo of Clara Strack and Tonie Morgan created problems to Mizzou all afternoon, as both players ended the afternoon with a double-double. Strack tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Morgan ended the day with 18 points and 14 assists.

With the loss, Mizzou drops to 12-5 on the season and 0-2 in Southeastern Conference play.

Up next - the Tigers will travel to Nashville for another ranked showdown. Coach Harper and her team will face No. 12 Vanderbilt on Thursday at Memorial Gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
