Mizzou guard will miss multiple weeks with hand injury

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
One of the keys to Mizzou men's basketball's early success is now set to miss 3-4 weeks with a hand injury, as the team announced that guard Jayden Stone hurt his non-shooting hand in practice, on Monday.
In a press release, the Tigers said that the Australia native will reevaluated in three weeks with an approximate return to play timeline of four weeks.
Through six games to start the 2025-26 season, Stone is second on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game, knocking down those shots at a 63.0 percent clip from the field and 41.7 percent average from 3-point range. He has also added on 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.5 steal per game, so far this season.
“Jayden has had a tremendous start to his first season at Mizzou,” head coach Dennis Gates said. “After missing last season with an injury, it was great to see him back to being himself and such a strong contributor to our early-season success. This is just a small bump in the road, though, and we look forward to him getting back on the court before SEC play begins.”
Stone will join a couple of his injured teammates on the bench, as center Trent Burns and guard/forward Trent Pierce are still working to return to the court.
Up next - Mizzou will host South Carolina State on Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
