RECAP: Mizzou overcomes first taste of adversity to beat its arch-rival

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team didn't have to wait too long to see what it was really made of.

In the Tigers' week two matchup against their arch-nemesis Kansas, head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company completed the program's largest comeback since 2015 to remain unbeaten to start the year.

"Incredibly, incredibly proud of our team," Drinkwitz said after the game.

After going up by six points out of the gates, MU allowed KU to score 21 unanswered points in the first quarter. However, the team never lost belief.

"They came to fight, now it's time to fight," Drinkwitz said.

Quarterback Beau Pribula and the offense went on to out-score Kansas 36-10 to win the ball game, as Mizzou's QB1 finished the day completing 77 percent of his passes for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns.

However, one of the most impressive stats came on fourth down. Pribula and his unit converted on four out of five fourth down attempts against the Jayhawks

"In the biggest moment, in the toughest times on fourth down, I mean [Beau Pribula] was nails," Drinkwitz said.

After the game, Coach Eli emphasized that it is only week two and he's not ready to 'crown' anybody just, yet. He saw a lot of growth in his team, but also stressed that once he watches the tape there will be a lot of things that they will need to correct.

Up next - Mizzou will host the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 3 p.m.
