Mizzou offensive lineman lands spot on AP All-America list

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One of the anchors of Mizzou's offensive line earned himself a spot on one of the Associated Press' (AP) preseason All-America teams, on Monday morning.

Lee's Summit native Cayden Green landed on the preseason second-team All-American team as a guard. The junior played at left guard in his first season in Columbia, but has has experience playing left tackle, as well. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz has tried him out at that position throughout fall camp, as the Tigers continue to look for their best five guys to start up front.

Green has made quite an impact in just one year in the black and gold. The Lee's Summit North graduate is striving to build on an impressive sophomore season, which he appeared in the starting lineup in every game. Green blocked for an offense compiled 2,926 passing yards and 2,138 rushing yards last year, including 26 touchdowns on the ground. He also played left guard for an offensive line that was the nation's No. 7-ranked unit in time of possession (32:54) and No. 10-ranked group in red zone offense (46-for-50). At the same time, Mizzou's offensive line allowed the fourth-fewest tackles for loss per game (4.62) in the SEC last season.

Green will kick off his junior season on Thursday, Aug. 28 at 6:30 p.m. against Central Arkansas.
