Mizzou puts practice No. 2 of fall camp in the books

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team is two practices into fall camp, as competition at every position continues.

You can watch extended highlights of practice No. 2 of camp in the video player below.

All eyes have, naturally, gone to the quarterback position, where Penn State transfer Beau Pribula, returner Sam Horn and even true freshman Matt Zollers are duking it out for the starting job. However, there's healthy battles up and down the roster, as well.

In addition to searching for their starting quarterback, head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company are looking to find the five that will click on the offensive line, hoping to see improvements at the cornerback position, see who will be the bell cow of the running back room, how they split up the targets in a deep receiver room and much more.

In that wide receiver room, specifically, Coach Drink has quite a few weapons to choose from. He brought on former Mississippi State star Kevin Coleman Jr. in the offseason. The St. Louis native came just 68 yards short of a 1,000-yard campaign, as he tallied 932 yards and six touchdowns on 74 receptions. Coleman Jr. averaged 12.6 yards per catch in 2024.

He's now hoping to bring that production to Columbia, as he joins a loaded room, which is led by position coach Jacob Peeler. Juniors Joshua Manning, Marquis Johnson and Daniel Blood are all looking to take on even bigger roles as they return in 2025, in addition to redshirt freshman James Madison II.

Coach Drinkwitz also has some young receiving talent on board in true freshmen Donovan Olugbode and Shaun Terry II, a four-star and three-star prospect out of high school, respectively.

Whoever the starting quarterback ends up being in 2025, there's no doubt they will have plenty of weapons around them to utilize.

Up next - Mizzou will hit the field for practice No. 3 of fall camp on Wednesday, July 30 at 11 a.m.
