Mizzou football sells out rivalry renewal game against Kansas

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
When one of the oldest rivalries in college sports returns to Faurot Field this fall, another chapter of a historic grudge fest will play out in front of a sold out crowd. On Monday, Mizzou Athletics announced that is has officially sold out the highly-anticipated game against Kansas on Sept. 6.
It is the second sellout that the department has announced for the 2025 season, joining the matchup against Alabama, as the Tigers hope to extend a historic streak. As of now, Mizzou is riding a 12-game sellout streak, dating back to the 2023 season. However, that streak being continued hinges on MU selling out the season opener against Central Arkansas on Aug. 28.
The sold out game in September will be the first time that the Tigers and the Jayhawks have met on the gridiron since 2011, when Mizzou beat Kansas 24-10 at Arrowhead Stadium. Throughout the course of the rivalry, the two teams have stayed pretty competitive with MU holding a 57-54 advantage over KU all-time.
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz and his players were asked about the return of this historic rivalry, which dates back to 1891, quite a bit at SEC Media Days down in Atlanta in July. Players said that Coach Drink has brought in guest speakers to inform the team exactly what this grudge fest is all about.
The Tigers and the Jayhawks will kickoff at 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 6.
