MIAMI, Fla. (KMIZ)

The Kansas City Royals won their first game following the All-Star break to salvage the series against the Miami Marlins with a 7-4 victory, on Sunday.

Pitching and hitting, both, came together for skipper Matt Quatraro in the series finale win, which snapped Miami's four-game winning streak and avoided a sweep.

Starting pitcher Kris Bubic had a stellar outing on the bump, as he threw five scoreless innings to improve to 8-6 on the season. The left-hander gave up just three hits and one walk in one of his most efficient outings of the 2025 season.

Bubic's play was backed up by a big day at the dish for veteran Salvador Perez. The catcher homered for the 15th time this year, while adding on a double, as well. The Royals had five doubles from five players, on Sunday, as the team has the fourth-most doubles in all of Major League Baseball in 2025.

The game ended on a high note, as well. Closer Carlos Estevez recorded his 26th save of the year, which is the second-most in the league.

With Sunday's win, Kansas City is now 48-52 overall and sits in fourth place in the American League Central standings.

Up next - the Royals will hit the road for a tough matchup with the Chicago Cubs. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. on Monday, July 21.
