Mizzou secures commitment from three-star safety

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
MIzzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz packed some fireworks for his Fourth of July celebration, on Friday, as three-star safety Tony Forney Jr. pledged to the Tigers.
Forney Jr. chose to come to Columbia over other offers from Georgia, Auburn, Pitt and Wisconsin. He is now the 10th prospect to join Drinkwitz's 2026 recruiting class and the second to come on the defensive side of the ball. With his Forney Jr.'s commitment, Mizzou's 2026 class is now the 57th-ranked class in the nation and 15th in the Southeastern Conference, according to On3.

The Georgia native is the 718th-ranked and 63rd-best safety in the nation. During his junior campaign, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound talent tallied 30 total tackles, three tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, a deflection and one forced fumble through 12 games.
