Boonville standout commits to Mizzou, continues family legacy

BOONVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz continued his absolute heater on the recruiting trail, on Tuesday afternoon, when Boonville standout Braylon Ellison announced his commitment to the Tigers.

The three-star offensive lineman picked MU over a slew of other offers, including Missouri State, Washington State, Coastal Carolina, Oregon State, James Madison, Navy and others.

"With Coach Drink and the other coaches, what really stood out to me is that they were apt about getting me there," Ellison said. "When it comes to connections...like, I know a lot of the guys there and I like the program and everything they've got going on. Yeah, I'm excited to be officially apart of it now."

Ellison is regarded as one of the top prospects in the state of Missouri, ranking No. 7 on 247Sports. He is now the second in-state commitment of Coach Drinkwitz's 2026 class, joining four-star linebacker Keenan Harris. You can find a full look at Mizzou's 2026 group below (stars according to On3).

  • Four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar
  • Four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady
  • Four-star linebacker Keenan Harris
  • Three-star offensive lineman Brandon Anderson
  • Three-star offensive lineman Khalief Canty Jr.
  • Three-star tight end Isaac Jensen
  • Three-star wide receiver Devyon Hill-Lomax
  • Three-star running back Maxwell Warner

Coach Drink has put an emphasis on offense with this recruiting class, as eight of the group's nine commitments come on the offensive side of the ball. Ellison is also the third offensive lineman to pledge to Mizzou.

Ellison's commitment also marks the third member of his family to suit up in the black and gold. His dad, Atiyyah Ellison, played football at Mizzou and currently works as the Director of Player and Alumni Relations for the program. His brother, Tyson, also played a couple of years for the Tigers as a walk-on linebacker.

"Talking to my dad, he was the most excited that I've seen him in a while. It's awesome to be able to continue that legacy. I'm sure all of my family is really happy about it, as well," Ellison said. "Them being able to watch me play is huge to me and for them, I'm sure."

Before heading to Mizzou, the Boonville star will play one, last season for the Pirates. That group will look to build on a 9-3 finish to the 2024 campaign.

"I want to accomplish something as a team, not just by myself. Obviously, I got what I'm doing locked down. It's about making the team better now. Yeah, I want to win something. That's kind of my mindset that I'm going to have when I get there."
