Slew of Mizzou pitchers enter the transfer portal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
After one of the worst seasons in program history, Mizzou baseball fans can expect some changes to be coming, including on the roster. On Monday, a team spokesperson confirmed with ABC 17 that six pitchers from the 2025 season have decided to enter the transfer portal.
The news comes after assistant coach, and former head coach head coach, Tim Jamieson stepped down from his role as the team's pitching coach.
The team confirmed that Tony Neubeck, Blair Oaks alum Wil Libbert, Kaden Jacobi, Josh Kirchhoff, Seth McCartney and Jaylen Merchant have all opted to throw their name into the portal after a disappointing season.
It's not secret that it was a lackluster campaign for skipper Kerrick Jackson and company in 2025. The team finished 16-39 overall and 3-27 in Southeastern Conference action, making a first round exit in the conference tournament. In that historically bad run, pitching cost the Tigers time and time again. The Mizzou pitching staff ended the year with an SEC-worst 9.91 team ERA, which is also the 284th worst in all of college baseball.
Neubeck, Libbert and Jacobi will be the biggest losses the portal, in terms of playing time.
Neubeck has a had tough go of it, due to injury. He first got injured in 2023, after just six games, which forced him to sit the rest of the season. The Minnesota native also sat out the entire 2024 campaign as a medical redshirt and missed significant time in 2025, as well. He got into 10 games in his final year in Columbia, making his highly-anticipated return to the hill at the beginning of April.
He ends his career in Columbia with a 7.37 ERA and 103 strikeouts through 90.1 innings of action.
Libbert has also dealt with injury in his two years at Mizzou. He sat out his entire freshman season, in 2024, due to injury. However, he was able to make his return to the mound in 2025, finishing with a 6.04 ERA through 11 starts. The Blair Oaks alum threw more innings than any other pitcher on staff this season, striking out a team-high 55 batters.
Jacobi will be looking for his fourth collegiate home, after two years in Columbia. The O'Fallon native started his career at Jefferson College, before transferring to St. Charles Community College and then finally landing at Mizzou.
The right-hander holds a career 9.19 ERA at MU through six starts. He struck out 67 batters over 64.2 innings in those two years, as well.
Coach Jackson will now look to hit the transfer portal to fill those open spots, while also continuing the hunt for a new pitching coach.
