Standout Mizzou infielder enters the transfer portal
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou softball team lost two of the biggest names on the roster, on Sunday afternoon.
Just hours after news of pitcher Taylor Pannell entering the portal came out, ABC 17 Sports confirmed with a team spokesperson that infielder Madison Walker is throwing her name into the transfer portal, as well. This comes after she spent two, memorable years in Columbia.
The Olathe, Kansas native had a breakout season in 2025, as she was one of the best home run hitters in the Southeastern Conference. Walker led the Tigers with 18 home run knocks in her sophomore year, which tied for third-best in the conference. She hit .244 overall in 2025 with a team-best 48 RBI and 43 hits.
She became a consistent force for head coach Larissa Anderson, starting in all 56 games of the season in her final year in Columbia.
But, Walker made an impact the second she came onto campus, in 2024. She appeared in 42 games, with 32 starts. The infielder hit .230 with 23 hits, two doubles, one home run 16 RBI and five runs. The best moment of that debut campaign came in the NCAA Regional Final, when she gave Mizzou a walk-off win over Omaha, lacing an RBI single right up the middle.
In addition to Walker and Pannell, Tiger outfielder Jordyn Thuman also announced she will hit the transfer portal, which brings the grand total of players leaving to three.
Thuman, a native of Mexico, Missouri, will have three years of eligibility left.
