Mizzou WBB picks up commitment from all-conference guard
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou women's basketball coach Kellie Harper made her third addition from the transfer portal, on Tuesday, as former Illinois State guard Shannon Dowell committed to the Tigers.
The O'Fallon, Illinois native will come to Columbia following two seasons with the Redbirds, where she earned All-Conference honors in both seasons. During the 2024-25 campaign, Dowell averaged 17.6 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game, which earned her All-MVC Second Team honors. In that season, she was one of six Illinois State players to break the program's single-season record for games played, with 36 appearances in the starting five. Her total of 651 points in her sophomore year ranked second on the Redbirds' single-season scoring list.
In her debut season with Illinois State, the 5-foot-10 guard earned an All-MVC Freshman Team selection and was a two-time MVC Freshman of the Week. She started in 20 games, but appeared in all 34, and averaged 9.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
Dowell will join former Kentucky guard Saniah Tyler and former Cleveland State forward Jordana Reisma in Coach Harper's 2025-26 transfer class.
