Mizzou softball run-rules SIUE in final midweek game of the season
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou softball closed out the midweek schedule with one last win, on Tuesday, as the Tigers run-ruled SIUE 10-2 in six innings to improve to 22-24 in 2025.
Head coach Larissa Anderson rode the arm of starter Pannell, all the way through, to victory. The junior pitched a complete game and recorded a career-best eight strikeouts. She only allowed two earned runs on four hits.
In addition to the standout day from Pannell, it helped that the MU bats were firing on all cylinders. Four Tigers tallied an RBI in the win, with Father Tolton alum Madison Uptegrove leading the charge with a team-high four RBI on the night. She ended the game 3-for-3 at the dish, with two runs and one home run.
Junior Kayley Lenger also hit a home run in the win, as she was the one to end the game in run-rule fashion for Mizzou, as a triple to the wall in straightaway center gave the Tigers an eight-run advantage. She ended the day going 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run and one home run.
The mercy-rule win was a good way for Coach Anderson's team to boost their confidence a bit, after losing six of their last seven games.
Up next - No. 3 Texas A&M will be in town for a three-game set, beginning on Thursday, April 17. First pitch in game one of the series is set for 6 p.m.
