Mizzou defensive end enters the transfer portal
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Another Mizzou football player is set to enter the transfer portal.
On Wednesday, defensive end Jahkai Lang announced on his social media that he will be throwing his name into the portal, making him the second Tiger player to make that decision in the spring transfer window.
The Troy, Missouri native spent two seasons at MU, but did not get into the action in 2023, which earned him a redshirt. In 2024, Lang got into 12 games and recorded 14 tackles, along with three sacks. Thanks to that redshirt, he will have three years of eligibility left to use at his next school.
Lang is leaving a defensive end room that is stacked with talent, ahead of the 2025 season. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz has said that he believes that room has the ability to be one of the best in the Southeastern Conference. The unit includes returners Zion Young and Darris Smith and Eddie Kelly Jr., as well as transfers Damon Wilson II and Langden Kitchen. With that much talent in one room, playing time will likely be at a premium, which could have factored into Lang's decision.
He came to Columbia as a three-star prospect out of high school. Lang was ranked as the No. 16 player in the state of Missouri and the No. 31 edge in the entire country. He helped Troy Buchanan to a combined 18-6 overall record during his final two years of high school, including a run to the Class 6 State semifinals in 2021.
Lang joins quarterback Drew Pyne as the second transfer in the spring window.
