Mizzou assistant coach takes job at Cleveland State

The Mizzou, Cleveland State connection lives on.
On Wednesday, Tiger men's basketball assistant Rob Summers was named the newest leader of the Cleveland State program, returning a little more than two years after he first was an assistant coach for the Vikings. The news come after he spent one season working on under Mizzou head coach Dennis Gates, in Columbia.
"[Summers] is passionate about the game of basketball. He provides the authentic love necessary in developing young people and possesses an undefeated work ethic. He is great at building relationships within our campus and community and nationally. He is a star," Coach Gates said in a press release.
Summers served an the offensive coordinator for the Tigers and primarily worked with the team's post players. It will likely be a position that Gates will look to fill in the offseason.
The Ohio-native spent 2019-2022 at Cleveland State, working under Coach Gates. In that time, he helped CSU win the Horizon League and make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2009.
In the year he spent with the Tigers, Coach Summers helped lift up Mizzou's scoring. MU ranked ninth nationally in offense, while forward Mark Mitchell was a third-team All-SEC selection. Summers and the Tigers, of course, also advanced to the NCAA Tournament, as well.
Summers has made multiples stops at quite a few different levels. Outside of Mizzou and Cleveland State, he has also worked at James Madison, Miami (Ohio), Urbana (Ohio) and Glenville State.
