COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

According to reports from 247sports and On3, Mizzou men's basketball coach Dennis Gates is bringing a Jefferson City product back home, for his second addition out of the transfer portal this offseason.

On Sunday, former Blair Oaks star Luke Northweather reportedly signed with Tiger men's hoops, following three seasons with the Oklahoma Sooners. In his redshirt sophomore campaign, he appeared in 30 of OU's 34 games and averaged 2.7 points and 1.5 rebounds in 11.3 minutes per contest. He shot about 42 percent from the field and 34 percent from 3-point range in his final season in Norman.

The 6-foot-11, 240-pound big man redshirted his first year at Oklahoma, but steadily saw his playing time go up in the past two seasons. In fact, he put up solid numbers in some of the Sooners' biggest wins of the 2024-25 campaign. For example, when OU beat Arizona, Northweather tallied a career-high 10 points and season-high seven rebounds. Months later, the former Blair Oaks Falcon had another 10 point outing, along with five boards, in Oklahoma's win over Texas in the regular-season finale. In SEC Tournament action, he also turned in a six point outing versus Kentucky in the second round.

Northweather was a stellar player for the Blair Oaks Falcons, as he left high school as a three-star prospect and the No. 6 rated player in the entire state of Missouri. During his time in Wardsville, he was named the 2021-22 Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year and averaged 29.2 points, 11.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 2.4 blocks and 2.0 steals per contest in that senior season.

He concluded his high school career with a total of 2,018 points and was named the Tri-County Conference Player of the Year twice.
